Olimpia,

First, please try to post the comment under the correct film. It's not a big deal but it kind of makes it easier to take someone seriously.

Secondly, I never said in the review that there was anything wrong with Jet Li or Dolph Lundgren in the Expendables. There's nothing in the review that questioned their choreography skills.

Rather the gist of my review (if you read and comprehended it correctly) was referring to how action films today have bypassed this era of manly men. I never said that was good or bad. I merely said, audiences seem to buy more implausible action stars judging by the box office take in.

I also challenged the concept of why shouldn't I just see the respective best action films of each action star on netflix streaming vs. forking out $14 a ticket in NYC to see a film with an older Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren in a film. Again, I felt the Expendables was a decent action film but I must admit it made me more nostalgic for Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren's older films, which were better and a lot more fun. Certainly didn't add anything besides a more expensive ticket.

The direction of this film was the flaw that didn't maximize what was there. It's more of a homage to Stallone and less about his co-stars who were used as window dressing and their glory days. I always liked Stallone but his directing and NOT the action (key point) didn't make me feel it was an upgrade but basically a poor man's retread to paying twice to three times a ticket I paid for as a kid.

Let me re-emphasize, the failure of this film wasn't about skill or dedication. There's no doubt every man put their best efforts and bodies to task. However execution and cohesiveness of the direction and story was where it came up short.

Just one man's opinion.

Respectfully,
Ron

We have Jet effing Li (and Dolph who is also a kickboxing champion) so we do know they can do some moves. Even at their age they could still do some very cool moves, come up with a great choreograph
